We will begin the year reviewing all the letters and their sounds. In September we will start having spelling tests. Students will be given a test on Monday. If they miss any of the words they will be assigned these words to study during the week. If they get all 10 basic words correct on Monday they will take a test over just the 5 Challenge Mystery Words on Friday. These words will follow the spelling pattern we work on all week. A post-test will be given on Friday for those who were assigned the 10 basic words. They will also need to spell the 5 Challenge Mystery Words. A sentence will also be dictated for all students to write. Capitals and punctuation will count.
